Nice and concise, but examples are platform-specific stars-5-0
Very clear and concise coverage of many essential database issues. I really appreciate the brevity and lack of unnecessary jargon and formalism. However it's definitely worth pointing out that the examples come from Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access and to a lesser degree Oracle.
Excellent introduction to Databases stars-5-0
If you have found yourself like me trying for several years to implement the database to simplify my work - please try this book.

I'm power user of Excel, Word and PowerPoint - but Access was always a hobbling-goblin for me. Not anymore. Using this book I finally manage to grasp what are basics of databases and more important - how to implement it in Access.

Highly recommended.

Databases are explained very well stars-4-0
I recently purchased this book and have only gotten through Chapter 2. So far I think that the book gives a good explanation of databases.

Not far enough into the book to offer much more, but the writing is good. The author makes it easy to understand the technical jargon.

Great book stars-5-0
Thumbs up. There are lots of reviews there already, and what they say are mostly true in my opinion. It is a good book to read to get general basic knowledge of Database. However might not be as good if you want to learn a specific database software. The book is written in simple and clear words, and is very organized, which is a huge bonus in my rating.
Simplified & easy to understand stars-4-0
The book is very helpful for novice learners of databases. It provides step-by-step guide to those who are new in database design and Microsoft Access. Key concepts like normalization are presented very clearly with relevant examples in business.
